KTB and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Team Up for Sustainability Month Cleanups Across Texas

by Corinne Hughes, Development and Marketing Manager

This spring, Keep Texas Beautiful and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages partnered to support local litter cleanups across Texas in celebration of Sustainability Month and Earth Day.

Through this partnership, KTB affiliates received funding to host new or existing cleanup events while inviting local Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages staff to volunteer alongside community members.

Across 11 Texas communities, affiliates brought together 697 volunteers who contributed 2,183 hours of service. Together, they removed 15,709 pounds of litter from parks, streets, waterways, neighborhoods, and public spaces.

Participating Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages employees also played an important role, with 167 staff members contributing 551 volunteer hours.

Participating affiliates included Keep Amarillo Beautiful, Keep Tyler Beautiful, Keep Sherman Beautiful, Keep Laredo Beautiful, Keep San Antonio Beautiful, Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Keep Waco Beautiful, Keep Del Rio Beautiful, Keep El Paso Beautiful, Keep El Campo Beautiful, and Keep McAllen Beautiful.

From large-scale community cleanups to smaller, focused volunteer efforts, each event demonstrated the power of local action. In Laredo, 326 volunteers collected more than 9,000 pounds of litter. In Del Rio, volunteers collected 622 pounds of litter and reported 1,500 pounds of recyclables. Across the state, affiliates showed how partnerships can help expand the reach and impact of community beautification efforts.

In addition to removing litter from local communities, the data collected through these events will contribute to the KTB’s Texas Litter Database, helping to improve understanding of litter trends and support more targeted cleanup and prevention efforts across the state.

Keep Texas Beautiful is grateful to Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, our participating affiliates, and every volunteer who gave their time to help keep Texas communities clean, green, and beautiful.
