Every year, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is celebrated as a global giving movement and a time for many to take action and be a part of something greater. It’s a moment for people to hone in on their generosity by making a charitable donation to an organization they believe in within their community. These organizations often share the same values and goals as those who give. Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a way that encourages people to do good. Being right after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday was an initiative to get individuals just as excited about giving. Many can give their time, donations, voice, talent, inspiration, or goods to serve where needed.
This Giving Tuesday, we ask you to support our efforts to keep Texas clean and beautiful. There are a number of ways to support KTB. You can become a KTB Business Member and provide critical support to our organization as an individual or organization. You can make a donation to our Keep Texas Recyling program, and you can also become a mission sponsor of KTB. You’re also able to give back in smaller meaningful ways. If you’re a Reliant customer, you can support KTB by signing up for the Reliant EcoShare program and designate funds to Earthshare of Texas, a coalition of environmental organizations, including KTB. Amazon shoppers can give back by visiting smile.amazon.com and choosing KTB as your beneficiary. With every eligible purchase, AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price to the charitable organizations selected by customers. This year’s Giving Tuesday donations will benefit our newest program, Keep Texas Recycling. We recently announced a merge with Cooperative Teamwork and Recycling Assistance (CTRA) to create this new recycling program. CTRA will dissolve, however, their services to implement and expand recycling programs throughout the state will continue through the KTR program, providing cooperative marketing of recyclable commodities and technical assistance to underserved communities. This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to help grow this program and provide recycling solutions to communities throughout Texas.
