PB, the Keep Texas Beautiful youth mascot, was created in honor of “O. P.” Schnabel, a founding member of Keep Texas Beautiful, who was often referred to as “Old Push Broom.”

O.P. Schnabel History
“O.P.” Schnabel, serving from 1967-70, began a tradition of positive, dynamic, selfless public spirited leaders who have been the hallmark of Keep Texas Beautiful since it inception. The legendary “O.P.” Schnabel, an insurance executive from San Antonio, stepped forward to help organize and serve as founding president of the Beautify Texas Council. The corporate office of Beautify Texas Council was in College Station, Texas. It published a monthly newsletter, The Beautiflyer, which was mailed to every city in the state, as well as every Chamber of Commerce, with additional copies mailed to newspaper, radio and television stations. Until his death in 1987, Mr. Schnabel tirelessly pursued his vision of what all cities working together could accomplish for Texas.
PB Costume Rental
The Keep Texas Beautiful PB costume is available for use by our affiliates. We ask that you pay the cost of shipping to and from the location that the costume must be shipped, as well as a minimal fee to help with wear and tear. Increased shipping charges will be added for rush orders. Please fill in the downloadable contract regarding your request to use the Push Broom costume and return it to Keep Texas Beautiful.
